AlveoliX, an associated partner of the LEARN project, presented a LEARN-related poster at the European Respiratory Society Congress 2024.
The congress, organised on an annual basis by the European Respiratory Society (ERS), brings together the world’s respiratory experts to showcase all the latest advances in respiratory medicine and science. The 2024 edition was held at the RX Messe Wien in Vienna, Austria, from the 7th to the 11th of September.
Giulia Raggi, scientific project lead at AlveoliX and winner of the ERS prize for ‘best abstract in epithelial cell biology’, presented the poster ‘Pulmonary safety assessment of cancer immunotherapy on a patient-derived lung-on-chip‘. The cell model that was optimised in the LEARN project was used for the drug study.
Furthermore, AlveoliX had the opportunity to discuss its lung-on-a-chip technology and help attendants enable their preclinical data in respiratory for disease modelling and for submitting data to authorities.

The LEARN project is a Horizon Europe project meant to monitor and evaluate indoor air quality at schools around Europe and its impact on children’s health. Our main goal is to develop and deploy novel sensors that can detect possibly harmful air pollutants, as well as advanced biosensors and optimised air remediation strategies.
