During the first half of November 2024, our partner MANN+HUMMEL presented the LEARN project at two relevant filtration events happening in Germany: IUTA Filtration Day and FILTECH, held in Duisburg on the 5th and in Cologne from the 12th to the 14th, respectively.
The LEARN project presented at IUTA Filtration Day
IUTA, a research institute that works with universities and SMEs in the field of energy and environmental technology, organises its Filtration Day on a yearly basis. In this 15th edition, the event focused on ‘Filtration for good indoor air quality‘, including several presentations, followed by a panel discussion.
As part of that, Dr. Andreas Scope from our partner MANN+HUMMEL presented some findings on healthier indoor air quality coming from the three Horizon Europe projects that the company is involved in, including K-HEALTHinAIR, INQUIRE, and the LEARN project, all of them part of the IDEAL cluster.
About the LEARN project, Andreas explained how we are identifying and characterising sources of air pollutants, characterising indoor school exposome with and without remediation strategies, finding the optimal placement of an air purifier, and assessing the children’s chemical exposure and impacts on their cognitive function.

The LEARN project displayed at FILTECH
FILTECH is the largest and most important filtration show worldwide. This year, it gathered 18,760 participants and 591 exhibitors from Europe and beyond.
Once again, the LEARN project was displayed at the booth of MANN+HUMMEL in this exhibition, together with the other five EU R&I projects they are involved in: AeroSolfd, CORNERSTONE, K-HEALTHinAIR, H2MAC and INQUIRE. This served to capture the attention of the attendants about the projects and leave them wanting to know more about them.

The LEARN project is a Horizon Europe project meant to monitor and evaluate indoor air quality at schools around Europe and its impact on children’s health. Our main goal is to develop and deploy novel sensors that can detect possibly harmful air pollutants, as well as advanced biosensors and optimised air remediation strategies.
