The IDEAL Cluster for Indoor Air Quality and Health, in which the LEARN project participates, celebrated its kick-off meeting last October 10th 2022 in Athens, Greece.
This cluster is a task force promoted by the European Commission to optimize synergies, avoid overlaps and increase the impact of the projects selected for funding under the Horizon Europe call HORIZON-HLTH-2021-ENVHLTH-02-02. Seven EU-funded projects currently take part in it: LEARN, InChildHealth, Inquire, K-HEALTHinAIR, SynAir-G, TwinAir and EDIAQI.
Ms Rita Araujo, the EU responsible for the cluster from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, presented the policy framework for the projects and the priorities of the EC in this context.
The activities of the IDEAL cluster will be mainly dedicated to the creation of working groups on topics of common interest, on matters such as science translation for policy and practice, data management and protection, and communication and dissemination. It will also provide the European Commission with scientific inputs and organize training sessions on relevant issues for indoor air quality.
The LEARN project will lead the IDEAL Cluster’s Working Group 7 on In-vitro models, and co-lead the Working Group 3 on Communication and Dissemination, together with the InChildHealth project.
The LEARN project is a Horizon Europe project meant to monitor and evaluate indoor air quality at schools around Europe and its impact on children’s health. Our main goal is to develop and deploy novel sensors that can detect possibly harmful air pollutants, as well as advanced biosensors and optimised air remediation strategies.
